Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/ - A forest as a symbol of cooperation between the Moldsilva Forestry Agency and the Romsilva National Forest Administration from Romania, as well as in the context of the actions dedicated to the Great Union Centenary, today was planted in Leuseni and on the other bank of Prut, in Husi, Romania.

Sylviculturists from both states, which made exchanges of delegations today, participated in the planting. The Centenary wood will grow on an area of about two hectares, which belong to the Hancesti-Silva enterprise (Moldova) and on a plot of land placed between the settlements Crasna and Husi, 3 km far from Satu Nou village, Cretesti commune (Romania). The Leuseni sector was planted with ash trees and poplars and the Husi one – with oak-trees.

“This forest is a symbol of a productive collaboration with colleagues from Romania. We have always enjoyed support of Romsilva specialists, we have carried out, by common consent, interesting and useful projects for the forest fund and, under a memorandum recently signed in Bucharest, we reconfirmed intentions to work together on this segment,” Moldsilva Agency Director Ion Haralampov said.

For his part, the head of the Romsilva delegation, Mihai Daia, stressed the role of this symbolic forest, due to grow on both banks of Prut “as a sign of brotherhood between close relatives”. “We have a common goal – a lasting and unitary management, in line with the provisions of the forest commitments, in order to improve the environmental situation. Moldsilva will always enjoy our support, which is quite important, in conditions of climate changes, when it is more and more complicated for us to preserve the biological diversity,” Mihai Daia said.

Sylviculturists from Moldova and Romania have developed close relations in the last 27 years, with numerous exchanges of experience and joint actions existing between Moldsilva and Romsilva. The last memorandum of understanding was signed in March 2018 and provides for the exchange of information between the two institutions, know-how transfer, exchange of experience and training sylviculturists, participation in professional contests, developing joint projects, cooperation in the investments sector.
