Moldovan-Belarusian inter-governmental commission for commercial, economic cooperation to hold meeting in Chisinau in next June

Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the Moldovan-Belarusian joint commission for commercial and economic cooperation is scheduled to be held in Chisinau in early next June. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusiy today reached an agreement to this effect.

The sides reiterated the importance that the two state sign agreements on the liberalization of air transport, noting that these provisions would raise the Moldovan-Belarusian ties to a new level. According to the economics and infrastructure minister, the transport’s liberalization will allow carriers of goods to move freely, without restrictions, and will lead to the increase in the trade exchange between Moldova and Belarus.  

For his part, Mikhail Rusiy expressed openness for continuing the constructive dialogue at all levels. As a priority, the official pointed out the successful cooperation between the two states in the field of assembling trolley busses, thus confirming interest in the joint assembling of busses as well.

In the context, Chiril Gaburici informed the Belarusian official about the positive evolution of the automotive sector, which becomes an important branch for the national economy. He voiced openness for starting and developing joint projects in this field. “Fifteen top companies from Germany, USA, Japan, Austria, Italy have invested in the automotive sector of Moldova so far. The volume of exports in this industry amounts to over 400 million dollars, which has a share of more than 20 per cent of all exports. Thus, Moldova is an important provider of raw material for the machine-building industry and on the last period, one may notice  increased interest on behalf of international companies,” the economics and infrastructure minister said.    

Also, Chiril Gaburici and Mikhail Rusiy welcomed the work of the Belo-mol Trading Trade House, which provides interaction between the governmental agencies from Belarus and Moldova with economic agents from both countries, to strengthen the Moldovan-Belarusian economic relations.  

Ninety one enterprises with Belarusian capital worth 3.78 million lei work in Moldova. The foreign trade between Moldova and Belarus in 2017 registered 224.67 million dollars, up by 9.69 per cent against 2016.
