Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES/ - The volume of subsidies for agriculture has been increased by 120 million lei in 2018 and young producers and women will be favoured in the process of subsidization in advance. Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Liviu Volconovici made statements to this effect during a visit paid to the Causeni town, south-eastern Moldova.

The minister urged to be made investments in agriculture and to start business in the sector, as ‘’there are development partners who provide support to this end.’’ ‘’To be bolder and to take the risks, just think that the insuring of farmlands and crops against hail and frost is an opportunity,’’ Liviu Volconovici said during discussions with farmers from the Causeni district.

The minister was accompanied by the director of the Agency of Interventions and Payments for Agriculture, Nicolae Ciubuc, who referred to the number of applications for subsidization submitted so far, their total value, other actions of backing farmers.

‘’Beginning with last February, when we launched the campaign of collecting applications on subsidization and till present, more than 400 applications have been submitted. About 15 million lei has been already paid for a half of them. Starting from June 2018, applications on subsidization could be submitted online as well. We also enjoy the support of partners through diverse programmes. We come to areas to know the challenges you face, as well as to see whether the subsidies the state is providing are turned to account accordingly,’’ Nicolae Ciubuc added.

The Causeni district has benefited from more programmes of the government meant to support farmers. An example is also a winery from the Salcuta village, where subsidies worth two million lei have been turned to account in the last years to buy high-tech equipment.

Also, more anti-hail protection points are to be set in this settlement this year; they are necessary, given the specific natural conditions and geographical position of the Causeni district.
