Electric bus from Belarus to be transmitted to Chisinau authorities

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/- An electric bus from Belarus will be transmitted to the authorities in Chisinau to be tested free of charge on the streets for one month. Acting mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu made the statement at a weekly meeting of the Chisinau city hall.

Radu said that after the test period, the municipal authorities will decide whether to buy such vehicles and assemble them in Chisinau.”A bust costs about 200,000 euros. They are modern, ecological and economical,” Radu said.

Acting head of Transport Directorate Vitalie Butucel said that the bus will run on – Calea Iesilor Street, Stefan cel Mare to Negruzzi. “The means of transport has a capacity of 100 people. It is to be reloaded after each race. The bus can travel up to 30 km only under battery,” he said.

In early April, Radu met director of the Belarus bus company Vladimir Koroli. They discussed the possibility to open an assembly line in Chisinau, which will allow the modernisaiton of the bus park in the capital. This year, 20 electric transport units will be assembled, five of which will be equipped with air conditioning systems and autonomous propulsion.

At the same time, in the coming days, two buses donated by Bucharest will reach Chisinau. The buses will be available on a route that includes several tourist attractions in the capital.
