Anthology of famous Moldovan violinist launched

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ – An anthology: "Sufletul viorii. Nicolae Botgros" (The Soul of the Violin. Nicolae Botgros), conception, selection and care of Veta Ghimpu Munteanu, about life and activity of violonist and conductor of folk music Orchestra "Lautarii", was launched at National Library (BNM) today.

According to author of the volume, Veta Ghimpu Munteanu, anthology includes journalistic articles, interviews in written press, radio, television and pictures from the family archive. "I selected from press the most appreciated, valued and rated the best man and artist Nicolae Botgros by those who love him and admire him: the greatest violinist and conductor," said Veta Ghimpu Munteanu.

Attending the event, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc said that this book, on the cover of Day of Tricolour, was launched on State Flag Day. "Master Nicolae Botgros has built a monument in his life, from which no one can take him down. Editing with support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), the book will get into 300 public libraries," said Minister Monica Babuc.

At his turn, academician Mihai Cimpoi, precursor of anthology, said that besides merit of being a perfect professional, "Nicolae Botgros is a follower of a tradition that kept us alive. He has quality to form best folk music orchestra in the entire Romanian space. He brings to forefront art of laughter, which provides us with the mark of our way of being. If all fiddler in the world were gathered, I am convinced that Nicolae Botgros would have been chosen as caretaker of all fiddler," said academician Mihai Cimpoi.

In his speech, protagonist of the anthology, Nicolae Botgros, thanked MECC for its support for publication of the book, anthology writer, authors of interviews, as well as all those which contributed to its editing. "Here you will find all the interviews I have been doing since 1979. I thank God for grace he has given me, as well as for my father, that directed me to go that way," said Master Nicolae Botgros.

There also talked about activity of distinguished artist, folklorist Tudor Colac, that previously published a book about Nicolae Botgros, director of National Palace Nicolae Sulac, Andrei Locoman, ex – director of the National Philharmonic, Mihail Murzac, director of Pontos Publishing House, Marcela Mardare, writers Nicolae Dabija, Andrei Strambeanu and others.

Nicolae Botgros was born on 25 January 1953, in Badicul – Moldovenesc village, Cahul district. He studied music at Culture School Elena Sarbu in Soroca and Conservatory G. Musicescu in Chisinau. He was artistic director of House of Culture in Edinet, a violinist in Orchestra "Mugurel", Orchestra of Dance Ensemble Orchestra "Joc". From 1978 until now he is artistic director of National Music Orchestra "Lautarii". Nicolae Botgros is among the few artists rewarded for their work while they are alive. His name to bears the Palace of Culture in Cahul, College of Arts in Soroca, secondary school in Chioselia village, Cantemir district and secondary school in village Badicul – Moldovenesc, Cahul district.
