Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - Officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) today detained five employees of the Public Services Agency (ASP), among whom two chiefs. All of them are suspected of illegal issuance of more than 600 driver’s licences.

According to CNA’s data, the detainings took place following searches started at the Public Services Agency and several driving training centres today morning.

CNA’s data shows that the business with driver’s licences has been in the focus of CNA starting the last year. On this period, the members of the group, made up of ASP chiefs and employees of four driving training centres from Chisinau, have been followed by CNA, which managed to document 393 cases of fraud of theoretical exams and 219 ones of the practical exams. Within the documentation, decision-makers established that sums between 500 and 1,500 euros were collected for the passing of these examinations.

Law-enforcers documented also cases of passing exams by some members of the Commission instead of aspirers. According to the materials of the case, in nine per cent of the cases investigated, the candidates were not present at the taking of exams and one per cent of nine were abroad.

A criminal case for abuse of power was opened in this case. If found guilty, people run the risk of being imprisoned for six years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain offices for a period from 5 to 10 years. Also, decision-makers consider possibility to cancel the drivers’ licences issued with infringements.
