Ion Ceban, Andrei Nastase to fight for Chisinau general mayor office in run-off

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Ion Ceban, and the candidate of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA), Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Andrei Nastase, will fight for the Chisinau general mayor office in the run-off of the new local polls.

After the processing of more than 90 per cent of the official reports, Ion Ceban grabbed over 41 per cent of the votes and Andrei Nastase – about 32 per cent of the voters’ suffrages.

According to the results, none of the candidates could get over 50 per cent of the votes given to win the office of Chisinau mayor in the first round of the polls.

Ion Ceban and Andrei Nastase are followed by the independent candidate, Silvia Radu, with almost 18 per cent of the votes.

More than 225,000 citizens participated in the local elections in Chisinau, which accounts for almost 36 per cent of the voters.
