Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/- The co-heads of the Joint Commission for European Integration between the Moldovan and Romanian parliament, George Mocanu and Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu signed a joint statement in Chisinau today.

The document was signed at the end of the 7th meeting of the Joint Committee for European Integration between the Parliament of Moldova and the Parliament of Romania, and aims to consolidate the special relations between the two parliaments.

“We have set in the document a string of cooperation priorities between Moldova and Romania, especially in the field of education, culture and infrastructure," Mocanu said.

He thanked the Romanian state for the support in Moldova’s integration process, and the financial support for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of over 800 pre-school institutions. “Moldova is backed by Romania at practical and political level. I am grateful for this and for the unconditional support provided by Bucharest in the education, culture and energy security,” Mocanu said.

Bogdan-Ionel Rodeanu reiterated the Romanian state's willingness to implement common projects for the benefit of citizens.

“We pledge to develop cooperation to modernize transport infrastructure. We are trying to find sustainable solutions to border crossing. We are talking about finding solutions to make the flow of goods and people much faster. We are trying to provide the institutional framework for developing platforms for discussion among MPs,” Rodeanu said.

The delegation of the Romanian parliament to the Joint Commission for European Integration has planned meetings with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, MPs of the Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, the Foreign Policy and European Integration Commission, the Social Protection, Health and Family Commission. Romanian lawmakers will hold talks with government officials and will visit a number of social and cultural institutions, renovated with the financial support of the Romanian government.
