Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The second branch from Moldova of the George Cosbuc county library from Bistrita-Nasaud, Romania, was inaugurated in the northern Glodeni district in late last week.

“Out of respect and valuing for our brothers from the Glodeni district, we signal a first event carried out by two administrations within a twinning arrangement signed about half a year ago. I hope that this project will be quite useful for people, especially young persons from the Glodeni district, whom, in this age of computerization and the Internet, we should urge to read,” the head of the Bistrita-Nasaud country council, Emil Radu Moldovan, has said at a ceremony on the library’s inauguration.

For his part, the head of the Glodeni district, Ion Leuca, said that “it is very good that the young generation from the Glodeni district will have access to authentic values of the Romanian language, culture and literature, through this library.” “I want to publicly thank our brothers from Romania for the extraordinary openness they have for our citizens from the Glodeni district,” Ion Leuca said.

The first branch of the George Cosbuc county library from Bistrita-Nasaud was opened in Chisinau. The furniture, information technology, books and film library of the Glodeni branch were provided free of charge by the mother library from Bistrita-Nasaud.

At the first stage, the Glodeni branch of the George Cosbuc library from Bistrita-Nasaud was endowed with about 2,700 volumes, among which books by Romanian writers and classics, Russian literature translated in Romanian, academic literature and belles-letters for children. Most books are new ones, edited in Romania, as well as donated by private persons from the Bistrita-Nasaud county, including the director of the library, Ioan Pintea.
