Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s citizens will be able to legally work in Bulgaria after Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Svetlana Cebotari signed an agreement on the regulation of labour migration with her Bulgarian counterpart in Sofia today.

Data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry shows that the document will regulate the procedure of employment of citizens from both states. The institutions in charge of the implementation of the agreement are the labour force employment agencies from both countries, which will identify the labour offers submitted by employers and will select proper candidates. For their part, employers commit to cover the costs for travel and accommodation, as well as to pay the salaries in the same conditions as to local employees.

The treaty was signed for a five-year term, with a subsequent automatic extension for a three-year period.

According to official data, in 2016, there were 5,147 Moldovan citizens in Bulgaria and 23 Bulgarian citizens came to Moldova with passport of Bulgaria.

Moldova has concluded seven agreements in the labour migration sector: with Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Italy, Israel and France.
