Embassy of japan, National Library of Moldova organize actions dedicated to Japanese culture, civilization

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Embassy of Japan in Moldova and the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, in partnership with the National Library, today carried out a string of activities dedicated to the Japanese culture and civilization titled, Japan – Land of the Rising Sun.      

The actions started with the inauguration of an exhibition-event titled, Japan – country of culture and civilization in spring colours. The exhibition comprises over 150 books about the history, civilization, art, culture, traditions and customs of Japan. An exhibition of Ikebana flower arrangements titled, Ikebana – art full of symbols, was opened here as well.  

In her speech, the director of the National Library, Elena Pintilei, said that the exhibition-event represented a part of the Library’s collections, to which the books displayed at the Japanese Culture and Arts Centre were added.   

Attending the event, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii said that the exhibition event told us about the spiritual values of the Japanese culture and civilization. “The culture is a universal language. Through it, we have possibility to know each other better,” the Japanese official stressed.  

In continuation, poet Vasile Romanciuc presented a haiku recital, after which a conference titled, Japan: Libraries and librarians. Experiences of interest for Moldova, took place. The conference was held by Hermina G. B. Anghelescu - professor at the Faculty of Librarianship and Information Science of the Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, the USA, researcher and professor invited to the Faculty of Library, Information and Media Science at the Tsukuba University, Japan.  

Two workshops, Ikebana and Comono, will take place within the actions dedicated to the Japanese culture and civilization today and on 20 June at 18:00. Both workshops are organized by the Ikenobo Japanese culture and art centre from Chisinau and Ikebana teacher Angela Lobastov.
