Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - A group of specialists of the Centru Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru) have recently participated in a forum in Georgia, focused on external positioning and territorial market. The delegates considered more ways of turning to good account local brands and the experience of Moldova’s region was appreciated by colleagues from other states.

The meeting took place in Tbilisi, within a programme titled, Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) for the programme’s signatory organizations and regional authorities of Moldova, Georgia, Belarus and Azerbaijan.

The forum’s agenda was focused n the working out of local economic development plans, in line with the principles of good governance and public-private dialogue. “The initiative is set to stimulate the creation of the image of the territory through development of the bland and local symbols, so that, subsequently, being promoted, they should attract investments in regions. We discussed subjects on the attraction and promotion of investments in settlements and regions, ways of carrying out marketing strategies, etc.,” a specialist at ADR Centru, Ala Bragoi, has told MOLDPRES.

According to Bragoi, the participants in the meeting showed special interest in the way of attracting investments in regions and communities from Moldova. “Interest was showed especially in the attraction of investments in industrial parks from Moldova, as well as in the way of investors’ cooperation with the local authorities, involvement of ADR Centru in the process of attraction, orientation and coordination of investments into the region,” Ala Bragoi noted.

“The elaboration of the local brand represents a chance for the communities from the region to promote themselves on the domestic and external stages. The enhancement of local products’ image is to stimulate the sale of local products and the diminution of the imported goods’ consumption. At the same time, the working out and promotion of brand elements would serve as an efficient instrument in reducing the export of “brains”. This is a pressing problem we are facing and which hinders the region’s economic development and, at the same time, the creation of attractive jobs locally and regionally,” the representative of the Centru Regional Development Agency said.

The participation in the event was provided by the programme, Mayors for Economic Growth, which is a new initiative of the European Union, launched in January 2017 within the Eastern Partnership. The general goal of the initiative is to support mayors and local administrations from the Eastern Partnership countries to become active facilitators of economic growth and creation of jobs locally. The main partners of the initiative in Moldova are the State Chancellery and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.
