Campaign of libraries' promotion for Chisinau's community launched

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/ - Over 50 library directors from the Chisinau municipality have participated in the launch of a national awareness campaign about the modernization of public libraries titled, This is My Library!, for Chisinau’s community. The event is organized by the B.P. Hasdeu municipal library and took place at the Targu-Mures of this library in the Moldovan capital.    

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the B.P. Hasdeu municipal library, Mariana Harjevschi, said that this campaign was backed by the Novateca programme, along with the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Ion Creanga National Library for Children. She noted that the campaign was meant to emphasize the changes and innovations of public libraries from Moldova in the last years and to promote the new law on libraries, ensuring the sustainable and modern  development of public libraries, so that they are closer to the society.   

According to Harjevschi, in this context, the B.P. Hasdeu municipal library initiated the CONNECT PLUS Programme, which comprises more modern services, focused on the priority to provide assistance and training for the formation of IT competences.   

At the same time, the Targu-Mures host branch, led by Stela Tymofti, presented those six services, delivered to the community with the best practices of library, which evolve with the users’ needs and demands, in the pace with the development of modern technologies. 

Attending the event was the acting head of the municipal culture department, Stela Mitriuc, and TV journalist Nata Albot gave a set of books to the B.P. Hasdeu municipal library.
