Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The resolution passed by the European Parliament will not financially hit the government’s work. Prime Minister Pavel Filip has made statements to this effect at the end of the weekly meeting of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM).

The PM showed disappointed about the decision by the European lawmakers, noting that the Moldovan authorities had qualitatively fulfilled all commitments taken before EU.

„The government has implemented all reforms agreed upon, including in the justice sector. I think that citizens are used in this political struggle. I think that this resolution was thought to be aimed against the citizens. I would like those who voted this resolution to be aware of the risks it involves, including a possible diminution of citizens’ trust in EU,” Filip noted.

The prime minister also said that the European Parliament’s resolution and the decision to cease the providing of the financial support for Moldova would not financially affect the government’s activity, as the economic growth recorded allowed completing the projects underway. “The money which was to reach Moldova on behalf of EU was provided for supplementing the funds meant for the nourishment of children in kindergartens and schools and for increasing the salaries of teachers,” Filip said.

On 5 July, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the political crisis in Moldova as a result of the invalidation of the local polls from Chisinau. The resolution was passed with the votes of 343 MEPs out of 538 ones present in at the meeting.

The European Parliament expressed deep concern about the ruling taken by the Supreme Court of Justice to cancel the results of the elections for the office of Chisinau city mayor and urged the European Commission to suspend both the payments provided for by the macro-financial assistance and the budgetary support for Moldova.
