Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Government has approved today the decision on creating Diplomatic Institute, which will aim at training and further perfecting of staff of diplomatic service institutions, and instructing the officials of government institutions whose activities are directly legal international relations and foreign policy.

"Given the need to ensure highly qualified staff, both diplomatic service and other authorities of central government, it is considered necessary to create a specialised institution – the Diplomatic Institute as a public institution with legal personality" said Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi. It will bring "a significant benefit as a continuous increase in quality of diplomatic service of Moldova, which is vital for promotion of our country's interests in actual international order."

The minister added that such institutions exist in several European countries, such as Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Austria, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia etc. Such initiatives have recently been carried out in the Eastern Partnership countries (Georgia, Armenia). Most of these institutions were set up and activate alongside the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of those countries.

The most training programmes will include courses in priority areas such as diplomatic and consular law, issues of theory and practice of international relations – global issues and processes, decision – making in foreign policy, international and European law – legal and institutional issues of globalisation, European integration, multilateral diplomacy, regional and security issues.
