Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The diplomatic missions must make efforts to attract investments in Moldova and promote exports. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici today made statements to this effect at the launch of the Training Course on Economic Diplomacy.

According to the economics minister, this goal can be achieved by identifying target companies and by persuading them to establish commercial relations with Moldova.

„The Training Course on Economic Diplomacy represents a platform for the development of relations and strengthening the dialogue between the government and diplomatic institutions. The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry does not want reports on your behalf, but results. You are the messengers of Moldova abroad, the ones who will facilitate the communication between the government and foreign investors,” Chiril Gaburici said.

During three days, the economic attaches and the ones of the commercial and economic offices of the embassies accredited abroad will analyze priority sectors for attracting investments and promoting exports. According to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, the goal of the economic attaches is to create and promote the image of the national economy as destination for investments and source of goods and services, as well as to consolidate the trust in local economic agents.

The economic attaches are to visit the Ungheni-Business Free Economic Zone (FEZ), where they will discuss with the residents and will analyze opportunities and facilities provided by the FEZ – information needed for persuading potential foreign investors.

At present, Moldova has 12 commercial and economic offices at embassies from various states. Authorities consider possibility to set up new similar offices in such countries as Japan, the USA, France, China and the United Kingdom.
