Fireworks banned on Moldovan capital's Dedication Day

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - The launch of fireworks will be banned in public places on 14 October, when Chisinau’s Dedication Day is marked. The acting general mayor of the Moldovan capital, Ruslan Codreanu, signed an instruction to this end today.    

According to the Chisinau city hall, the decision was taken in the context of a blast which occurred in a block of flats in the Rascani district of the capital several days ago and “as a token of solidarity with the victims and their families.”   

The explosion which took place on 6 October 2018 took the lives of four persons, according to the latest information. More apartments were destroyed in the block in the wake of this blast.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip today instructed the creation of a working group which, in a one-week period, will come up with an action plan due to contain solutions and proposals, so that such situations no longer occur. After the technical expertise is ready, the Chisinau city hall will deal with works of protection and rehabilitation of the block of flats.    

The rescuers today ended the intervention works for disassembling the unstable constructions from the floors hit by the explosion, five days after the latter occurred.
