Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/- The notions of "disabled" will be replaced in the Constitution with the "disabled person", according to legislative amendments, which will be published tomorrow in the Official Journal of Moldova.

The authors of the document said "once these amendments are implemented, the Constitution's provisions will be adjusted to international law." "At the same time, it will be respected the commitment assumed by ratifying the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which establishes the shift from the medical model to the social one based on inclusion,” the document reads.

However, legislative amendments come to ensure the protection of people with disabilities, human rights and fundamental freedoms by promoting dignity.

The same issue will include the presidential decree on the promulgation of the amendments adopted by parliament.
