Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - Patients will be able to get more names of medicines for free. The Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) has issued an order which provides for the 100 per cent compensation of more essential medicines.

At a news conference, the MSMPS state secretary, Rodica Scutelnic, said that the maximum sums had been already established jointly with the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), due to be compensated by the state for each international common name. The medicines fitting the maximum sum of compensation will be provided free of charge.

According to Scutelnic, the maximum sums will be set quarterly, proceeding from the updating of the national register of prices, registration and placement of medicines on market. “By this, the government will give patient possibility to take the compensated medicine for free in drugstores. The earlier compensation procedure will be applied for the medicines which do not fit the maximum sum,” Scutelnic noted. She added that minors were benefiting from all medicines of the list free of charge.

At the same news conference, the CNAM deputy director, Denis Valac, said that the drugstores would be obliged to keep in supplies at least one pharmaceutical product able to be provided for free.

„The drugstores contracted by CNAM and their branches will be obliged to keep in their supplies at least one pharmaceutical product, which can be offered free of charge for each compensated prescription. The pharmacist will compulsorily propose to the patient the medicines offered for free. If the person refuses the preparation, he/she will be informed about other medicines available, which are partially compensated. If the medicine demanded for free is lacking, the drugstore is obliged to make the demanded medicine available to the patient in 72 hours after the addressing,” Valac said.

At present, the list of compensated medicines includes 148 international common names.

The initiative to provide free of charge medicines to patients belong to the Democratic Party of Moldova.
