Special commission to verify implementation of project on construction of Chisinau Arena

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - A special commission will verify the implementation of the project on the construction of the Chisinau Arena. The decision was announced after a today’s meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS).   

„This is a separate inquiry commission, which will check the conditions in which the contest was organized, by whom and will detect the involvement of everybody, including of the earlier leadership of the parliament and government. There are a lot of questions from the viewpoint of the reasonings and national interests. There are many suspect decisions and non-transparency,” President Igor Dodon said following the CSS’s meeting.    

According to Igor Dodon, the state provided about 70 hectares for the building of the Chisinau Arena. Besides, 200 million lei was earmarked from the budget. “Instructions were made to secure the state’s assets and investments, i.e. these 70 hectares of ground should not be sold to third firms,” Dodon specified.  

At the same time, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry is to propose solutions on the possibility to continue the construction of the Chisinau Arena.

Another subject discussed at the CSS meeting is the investigation of the bank fraud. In this respect, Igor Dodon said that the Prosecutor General’s Office had initiated more actions of levying distraint on the assets of some people who might be involved in the fraud. The CSS members were informed that the Prosecutor General’s Office in the near future might come up with initiatives on stripping some persons off immunity, if it has enough information to this end.

At the same time, Igor Dodon informed that he had asked the leadership of Russia to consider possibilities of providing to Moldova a cut in the gas price for the period 1 September – 1 January.
