Blood type data not to be included in driving licences of Moldova

Chisinau, 07 August /MOLDPRES/ – The public institution Public Services Agency (ASP) will ensure the issue of the driving licence model of 2019 and the provisional model driving licence of 2019, according to some amendments to the Decision of 2008 regarding the approval of the new type of driving licence models. According to document, the provisions of the decision approved on Wednesday, 07 August, will enter into force as soon as there are created the conditions for the driving licence of 2019, but not later than 01 January 2020.

The decision approved by the Government on Wednesday transposes the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on the driving licence, and the new type licence corresponds to international norms.

The authors of the project proposed to initiate modifications of the national driving licence of Moldova, type of card based on polycarbonate, with laser engraving, of ID – 1 format, with the exclusion from this document of the data field: Blood group and reservation of two spaces for some possible registrations of issuing authority.

The international norms regarding the field of obtaining the driving licence, the Directive of the Parliament and the Council of the European Union №2006/126/EC of 20.12.2006 regarding the driving licence and the UN Convention on Road Traffic "do not provide for inclusion in driving licence of the blood group data held by the holder of this document".

Also, in the informative note annexed to project, it is mentioned that the driving licences of model 1995, 2008 and 2015 remain valid under the conditions in which they were issued, and their owners have no obligation to change them only upon their expiry, with except for model driving licences of 1995 which are not limited in time.

The data on the blood group were also excluded from identity papers, commencing 10 October 2018.
