Yellow code of hydrological drought extended until 28 August in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended the Yellow Code (CG) of hydrological drought until 28 August.

The hydrologists report drought in the rivers and lakes of Moldova due to the lack of precipitation and high temperatures. "We ask the economic agents and population to consume rationally water resources", says an institution statement.

Also, until 26 August, throughout Moldova, it is valid CG of drought. According to meteorologists, in reference period, over extended areas, the maximum air temperature will reach values ​​of up to 35ºC.

In the context of the burning and drought established in Moldova, the General Inspectorate of Emergency Situations (IGSU) has reiterated the attention on the observance of fire regulations. The firefighters have asked the citizens not to light the dry vegetation and household waste, avoid ignition of wrinkles and stems, and in case of fires, even insignificant ones, call 112.

Also, in case there are noticed out of ordinary situations in forests or adjacent territories, the specialists of Agency Moldsilva ask to be contacted on hotline 022 – 211 – 311.

The yellow code of hydrological drought is announced when the water flow in aquatic basins reaches 50 per cent and lower levels of multiannual norm.
