Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/ – The collection of informal payments in the educational system is prohibited. The warning comes from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), which issued an order on it.

The institution said that parents should not pay illegal amounts, and children must be in school in an environment based on fairness, professionalism and safety. "The profession of teacher is and must be a prestigious and honourable profession, and corruption allegations harm this objective," says the statement of ministry.

Also, the institution warned the directors and teachers of the educational institutions that they should react promptly and take the necessary actions to prevent corruption in the system. In such situations, the factors involved are urged to notify MECC and even the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA).

The Ministry of Education also called on all educational institutions to become examples of transparency and integrity.

Previously, the press had publicised several cases where there were collected informal payments in some educational institutions. Recently, in a group that brings together more parents on one social network, one mother posted several reasons for refusing to pay informal school fees and she urged other parents to do the same.
