Chisinau, 17 September /MOLDPRES/ - Investment opportunities in Moldova’s agriculture and Moldovan goods’ access on the Indian market were the main subjects discussed by Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Georgeta Mincu and a delegation of business people from India on 16 September.
“We spoke about the possibility of export of table grapes from Moldova to the market of India, possibilities of exporting nuts, bilateral cooperation in the sector of science and education in agriculture, etc. We had constructive discussions; I was happy to see the interest of business people of India to support the agriculture of Moldova, thus diversifying the agro-food products available on the Indian market,” Georgeta Mincu said.
The Indian delegation, led by Bucharest-based Ambassador of India to Moldova Thanglura Darlong, included business people from more fields, who came to the ministry to show interest in opportunities of the bilateral trade with agro-food products. “The guests were interested especially in the import in concentrated fruit juice, fresh fruits, as well as of Moldovan wines,” sources of the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry (MADRM) said.
The participants in the meeting also tackled other issues concerning the Moldovan-Indian cooperation in the agro-food sector, especially the organization of an eventual economic mission for the promotion of native production of wines and fresh fruits in India.
The meeting at MADRM took place in the context of Business Matching (B2B) session, organized by Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Investments Agency in Chisinau.
In January-June 2019, the trade between Moldova and India amounted to 18.433 million dollars.
