Petrol, diesel cheapen in Moldova, amid decrease in import prices, quotations at international exchanges

Chisinau, 8 October /MOLDPRES/ - The pump price for the most demanded Premium-95 petrol has decreased, on average, by 0.5 lei to 18.47 lei per one litre and the diesel cheapened by 0.3 lei to an average price of 16.32 lei for one litre. The fuel-supply stations of Moldova today cut the prices, amid a drop in the import costs and quotations at international exchanges in the last two weeks.
This is the second decrease in prices for fuels after the last August one, when the prices for the Premium-95 petrol dropped by 2.64 per cent and the ones for diesel – by 1.81 per cent. In May 2019, the fuel supply stations posted prices for petrol by about one leu higher against the previous ones and the prices for diesel increased by 0.8 lei for one litre, on average. After the increases in prices from the last mid-May, the pump price for the most demanded Premium-95 was of 19.37 lei for one litre and for diesel – 17.45 lei.
According to the web portal www.autotraveler.ru, in Moldova, the petrol prices are among the lowest ones in Europe and Central Asia, after Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Russia.
The BRENT oil today is quoted for 58.62 dollars for one barrel, up by 0.46 per cent against the prices recorded at the opening of stock exchanges.
In Moldova, the petrol and diesel prices are calculated by operators, not by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), according to the methodology of formation and application of prices for oil products, earlier approved by ANRE.
According to the methodology approved, the prices are established by operators, taking into consideration the costs and the annual profitableness rates on the oil products commercialized per one enterprise of ten per cent at the most. This is provided for also in the amendments approved by the parliament to the law on oil products market, which entered into force on 1 January 2019.
