Moldovan PM presents activity report of cabinet

12:23 | 12.11.2019 Category: Political

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Maia Sandu presented today in the parliament an activity report of the Cabinet of Ministers. The document was read in the context of examining the censorship motion submitted by the PSRM.

In speech, the premier reviewed the achievements of the Cabinet of Ministers in the five months of activity and summarized the political situation. She urged the MPs to be fair in decisions and not to judge the actions of the executive through narrow interests.

“Citizens expect two things from us - to live better and to be given justice. It is on these two dimensions that the Government has moved the most in these five months. We have planned money in the budget to help the needy people and we have initiated a serious justice reform.  After months of work, the results begin to show. And that seems to scare you. We fulfilled in two months all the commitments of external financing that the previous ones have not met in 3 years. We brought in the country financial assistance worth over 2 billion lei. This money was provided by international partners for Moldovan citizens with confidence that the government will manage properly”, Sandu said.

The premier added that if the executive is dismissed, the financing promised by the development partners could be stopped. "Due to the reforms implemented by us, the Republic of Moldova was to receive another 600 million lei in December as budget support from the European Union. I would like to think that no deputy would raise his hand for this external aid to be stopped, ”said the Prime Minister.

The premier also presented data on the draft budget for 2020, called the "Solidarity budget". "The solidarity budget means increasing wages by 10% for state employees and correcting the wage law to provide increases of more than 10%, some up to 30%, for certain categories of employees: teachers, educators, assistant teachers, cooks, social workers, librarians, directors of educational institutions and firemen. The solidarity budget includes increasing the aid for the cold period of the year from 350 to 500 lei per month and extending the program so that it can benefit 200 thousand families. We have launched a new program - "Help at the Counter": a program to support low-income pensioners for the payment of electricity. The solidarity budget includes increasing support for participants in fighting actions to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova and for participants in fighting actions in Afghanistan. The allowance will be increased from 100 to 300 lei for more than 26,000 people ”, she said.

The premier noted that in 2020 projects worth 838 million euros will be launched in all areas. She described the motion submitted by the PSRM against the government as "an act provoked by the fear of an independent prosecutor".

On 8 November the PSRM faction submitted a motion of censure against the government. The Socialists were dissatisfied that the government changed the rules for appointing the prosecutor general through assuming responsibility without consulting them. They asked Maia Sandu to withdraw the draft.
