Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - The director of the Forensic Medicine Centre has been detained by officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) in files on faked expertises, black accounts and corruption at the institution. He is to be escorted to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office to be heard.

According to the CNA press service, also today, prosecutors will ask the law court to preventively arrest six forensic physicians out of those ten ones detained two days ago. Four of them cooperate with the inquiry and are to be prosecuted at large.

The physicians are accused of the organization of a criminal scheme, through which they would have demanded payments for legal expertise services. The money was claimed for the formulation of distorted conclusions in expertise reports and the sums were varying from 900 lei to 10,000 lei.

Within searches carried out at the homes of medical employees, anticorruption officers found and raised tens of thousands of euros, gold jewelry (about which there are suppositions that they would have belonged to dead people), as well as rough copies, which would represent black accounts.

Two criminal files were opened – for passive corruption and swindle, and if they are found guilty, they run the risk of being sentenced to up to 15 years of imprisonment with fine worth up to 500,000 lei and depriving from the right of holding offices for a period of up to 15 years.
