Moldova receives seven vehicles for supporting persons with disabilities

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - The persons with severe disabilities and children of vulnerable groups from seven Moldovan districts will benefit from better social services at home. For this, seven social services from seven districts of Moldova were endowed with vehicles worth 75,500 euros, bought with the European Union’s financial support.    

Five out of the seven vehicles today were provided to local public associations from Taraclia, Cantemir, Glodeni, Leova and Donduseni. These public associations, along with the public authorities, provide social assistance and support at home to children and adults with severe disabilities through the Mobile Team service.    

Another two vehicles will be brought to Telenesti and Ungheni.

„The European Union backs initiatives of the civil society from Moldova to create, develop and manage sustainable social services for persons with disabilities. For thousands citizens of Moldova, the existence and durability of these services means extra chances to a fulfilled life in the community,” Head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau Peter Michalko said.      

The donation of the seven cars is part of an action plan of the European project, Better social services through sustainable partnership between the civil society and the government. Within the project, 33 local organizations benefit from grants to create and maintain social services meant for persons with intellectual, psycho-social disabilities and children from vulnerable groups.
