Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - A regional forum titled, Teacher of Information Technology – North IT Ambassador, took place in Balti on 27 November. The event was first ever held in the North Development Region and brought together over 200 participants: teachers of IT, students, representatives of the academic environment and local information technologies companies.

The forum was organized by the Association for the Development of Electronic Communications and Information Technologies (ACETI). At the event, the Association signed cooperation agreements with the Balti-based Alecu Russo State University, Employers’ Association from the Processing Industry, colleges and schools from Balti, in order to promote innovation technologies and encourage young people to connect their future to this sector.

„ACETI is set, through the organization of this regional forum, to create a platform of dialogue between the information technology teachers from the general education, vocational education and higher education, on the one hand, and business environment of the innovation technologies sector from north Moldova, on the other hand. We also want to promote the innovation technologies field in the region and inform IT teachers about possibilities of professional upgrading and organization of extra-curricular activities for young people fond of innovation technologies. Our goal is that the trained pupils remain at home, where they are to have a well-paid job. We understand that not all young people will choose to remain in the country; yet, nevertheless, we are set to create a friendly atmosphere in our region for the future IT specialists,” the ACETI head, Ion Bodrug, said.

Bodrug noted that more events, organized by ACETI on the last period, had proved that young people were interested in IT and the prospects offered by this sector. The ACETI head referred also to a regional development project, implemented by the North Regional Development Agency. The budget of the project requested from the National Regional Development Fund amounts to about 11.77 million lei.

Willingness to become co-financers of the project was expressed by the Moldova Competitiveness Project of the United Nations Agency for International Development (USAID), Embassy of Sweden, UK Aid, other foreign partners. “On the next period, ACETI will initiate international cooperation and we plan to get involved in some projects, which are to be submitted to the European Commission. At the same time, with the support of national and international partners, we intend to create the Digital Innovation Hub,” Ion Bodrug added.

ACETI was launched in last September, on the occasion of the International Programmers’ Day, marked in Balti for the first time ever. With the support of local and external partners, ACETI is set, in continuation, to back young people fond of IT through the organization of a string of events, including meetings of professional orientation in the sector.
