Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - The supplement to the present contract on gas supply between the Gazprom public joint stock company and the Moldovagaz stock company is to be signed till late December. The head of Moldovagaz, Vadim Ceban, has made statements to this effect at a meeting with Economics and Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii.

According to Ceban, the supplement will be signed after agreement is reached on solutions to pay the cost of the services of gas transport in reverse regime across Ukraine on the Orlovka-Causeni segment.

Today, Prime Minister Ion Chicu informed that, following the Normandy Format summit held in Paris, the president of Ukraine has said that the subject on export of Russian gas to Europe would have been de-blocked and work was carried out on details of the new agreement. “This is good news for all those who depend on the energy resources from the East, including us, those who live and work in Moldova,” the PM noted.

Moldovagaz on 9 December said that Moldova would be provided with gas in reverse flow through the Trans-Balkan corridor, if Russia and Ukraine fail to reach an agreement on the transit of Russian gas.

The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry said that a working meeting would be held in Brussels on 12 December, in order to discuss the stage of preparing all operators of transport systems on the Trans-Balkan corridor for ensuring the gas transport in reverse regime.

The contracts on the supply of gas to Moldova’s consumers and the transit of gas across the territory of Moldova, signed by Moldovagaz and Gazprom, are valid till the end of this year.
