By 01 October 2020, all passenger buses to be classified in comfort categories

Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – Until 01 October 2020, all buses carrying passengers on district and international routes will be subjected to a test which are to be classified by comfort category. This is stipulated in an order of the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, which has been published, on Tuesday, 31 December, in the Official Journal (MO).

According to it, the tests will start on 01 February 2020 and end on 01 October 2020. By 01 April 2020, no less than 1/3 of the buses of road transport operators will have to pass classification by comfort categories. The classification by comfort categories will be carried out by the experts of the technical inspection stations of road vehicles.

The means of transport that will not be classified by comfort categories will no longer be able to serve passengers.

The decision to classify the transport units by comfort categories was announced last week by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI), after the authorities and carriers reached a compromise regarding the increase of the travel tariffs for the transport of passengers on the intercity routes from MDL 0.48 per km up to MDL 0.60/km and MDL 0.70/km, depending upon comfort category. The rebates will take effect on 01 January 2020.
