Chisinau, 2 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Ambassador of France to Moldova Pascal Le Deunff and a group of representatives of French companies in Moldova. The subject discussed was focused on the evolution of the implementation of meal vouchers, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The French companies’ representatives voiced concern about the amendment of the law on the taxation of meal vouchers, which took place in August 2019. According to the business people, the taxation of the meal vouchers hindered the goals set and creates fiscal and administrative obstacles.

The prime minister assured the investors of the government’s intention to back the business and create a predictable environment. Given that the cabinet has no possibility to cancel the taxation of meal vouchers, a temporary solution was identified to increase the value of the meal voucher from 45 to 55 lei.

The PM said: ‘’We deem the sound nourishment of employees as an important goal and a factor which can support the development of business in Moldova. Hence, you can rely on our support in identifying solutions.’’

In the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to monitor, in new conditions, the evolution of business during January-February. At the same time, a meeting with decision-makers will be held in next March, during which the progress made will be analyzed and the prospects in the implementation of meal vouchers will be assessed.
