Russian Federation as main destination country for Moldovan migrants

Chisinau, 9 January /MOLDPRES/- In 2018, over 352 thousand people went abroad on seasonal work or looking for a job. Data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Migration Office show that out of this number, 238 thousand were men and 114 thousand - women.

The Russian Federation and Italy rank among the top places of the recipient countries of Moldovan migrants to work. Men go mainly to Russia (48%), women - Italy (35%).

The data are set out in the Extended Migration Profile of the Republic of Moldova for 2014-2018, document worked out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Migration Office in late 2019. The analysis includes the official statistical and administrative data, obtained from the ministries and central public authorities responsible for the record and collection of data related to the international migration of population.
