Sweden supports Moldovan parliament's efforts of transparentizing legislative process, country's democratization

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Sweden will support Moldova in efforts of transparentizing the legislative process. Statements to this effect were made at a today’s meeting between Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation Peter Eriksson, leading a delegation in Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

The parliament speaker thanked the government of Sweden for the support provided to implement the e-parliament system, which ensures the transparency of the legislative process and the component and indispensable component part of which the electronic voting system is.

Greceanii informed the high Swedish official about the march of the implementation of the concerned project and that enhanced work was carried out at the parliament to implement the new system.

”We want the people of Moldova to benefit from maximum of transparency and information about the legislative activity as soon as possible and the Swedish people to make sure of its important contribution to this evolution,” Zinaida Greceanii said.  

The sides were unanimous in the need to turn to good account the potential of Moldovan-Swedish inter-parliamentary cooperation, including at the highest level.

Referring to the priorities faced by the authorities, the parliament speaker reiterated that the leadership would insist on the fulfillment of the commitments taken before the development partners, on the implementation of the reform in justice with long-lasting effect, on the carrying out of investment projects in infrastructure.    

The parliament was encouraged to press ahead with the promotion of the democratic processes, ensuring the independent justice, other reforms necessary for the strengthening of the rule of law state.

In the end, the speaker stressed that Sweden had been a sincere friend of Moldova in all years of the country’s independence. She spoke out for the continuous development of these relations, for the benefit of the two states.
