Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall has received the results of an independent external audit on the repair of the Stefan cel Mare blvd from the Moldovan capital. Mayor Ion Ceban said that the data contained there spoke about embezzlement.

At a TV programme, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, said that he had received the findings of an independent external audit on the repair of the Stefan cel Mare blvd and the data showed that seven million euros had been laundered during the repair of this boulevard.

„I can say with all responsibility that somebody buried seven million euros during the repair of the Stefan cel Mare blvd. The asphalt in stations and other places is not good because of the increase in the percentage of bitumen and non-observance of the technical standards,” Ceban noted.

The Chisinau mayor also said that the municipal institution had undertaken a string of legal procedures on this subject.

In November 2019, the Chisinau city hall instructed the consideration of the repair of the Stefan cel Mare blvd. Pieces of asphalt were collected for this to make testings.

The repair of the Stefan cel Mare blvd started in 2015, as part of a project on the restoration of six streets from the Moldovan capital. Even if the works on the boulevard were finished in 2017, the certificate of acceptance was not signed, as deficiencies were discovered, with the asphalt being strongly deformed in more places.
