Moldovan parliament modified law on Superior Council Magistracy

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/- CSM President could be elected from members who are not judges. A draft law amending the Article 5 of the Law on Superior Council of Magistracy was voted today by parliament in first reading.
The legislative initiative belongs to President Igor Dodon.
Under the draft, the conditions which determined the elaboration of amendments were urgent opinion of the Venice Commission and the Human Rights Directorate of the Council of Europe. Thus, the opportunity of the draft law lies in adjusting the concept of electing the CSM president in accordance with international standards.
