Moldova to cease flights to France, Spain

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan authorities, starting from today, will cease the flights from Spain and France and as of 15 March evening, most flights from and to Europe will be stopped. At the same time, the religious activities will be suspended too. Prime Minister Ion Chicu today made statements to this effect at the end of a meeting of the national extraordinary public health commission.   

According to Chicu, the authorities will enhance the prophylaxis measures of COVID-19 and ruled that, in the next weeks, foreign citizens would not transit Moldova and parishioners would be urged to watch the church services online. Also, all entertainment and sports activities will be ceased in the next two weeks.   

„This is the decision of the commission. It regards the services for all cults. We additionally analyzed the effects and the most risky category represents the elderly people. We suspend these activities during two weeks. We will discuss with representatives of religious cults. The religious services will be broadcast live by the national television, maybe also by other TV stations. The danger and risk is the highest one for elderly people,’’ Ion Chicu said.  

The PM noted that decision-makers were discussing also the ceasing of the work of the terrestrial border crossing points, to be able to strengthen the control and way of preventing COVID-19, just as the neighbour countries did it.
