Moldovan authorities allow transiting of Moldova through two border crossing points

Chisinau, 19 March /MOLDPRES/ – The Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova, at a 18 March meeting, took decisions on the country’s transiting in conditions imposed by the state of emergency, established in connection with the COVID-19 infection.    

According to the Commission, the transiting of the territory of Moldova, by foreign citizens, who return to the origin or residency country, of the members of the diplomatic missions and consular offices, of international organizations/missions, accredited in the destination country, as well as of their family members, is authorized directly, without stop, through the state border checkpoints Giurgiulesti – Galati and Giurgiulesti – Reni.    

„The transiting will be authorized by the employees of the Border Police only after getting the confirmation on behalf of the neighbour country’s local border authority on the acceptance of the nominated persons on its territory. The Border Police will ensure the accompanying of the transport means of the persons in transit from the entry point to the exit point,’’ reads the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations.

Also, the temporary access to the territory of Moldova of the crew of the airship meant for the evacuation of the Peace Corps volunteers, in conditions strictly regulated by the competent authorities, is authorized on 19 March 2020.

State of emergency is declared on the entire territory of Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020. This state sees including restrictions of entry and exit from the country, ceasing of the air, railway and road transport.
