As many as 194 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 1,024 primary samples were processed today. As a result, 194 cases were registered, all with local transmission. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the Single Command Centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.   

According to Dumbraveanu, 55 cases were registered in Chisinau, 38 – in Dubasari, 31 – on the left bank of Dniester, 9 – in Causeni, 7 in Balti, 6 in Straseni, 5 in Falesti, four cases in Cahul, Criuleni, Glodeni, Ialoveni, Rascani, Sangerei, Telenesti each, three cases in Anenii Noi and Vulcanesti each, two cases in Drochia and Orhei each, one case in Cantemir, Hancesti, Rezina, Stefan Voda and Ungheni each.    

”I have already informed about the boosting of measures of testing in hotbeds. Today in the Dubasari district, 37 out of 38 cases are from the centre of temporary placement for disabled people. On the next days, we will continue the testing at this institution. It is about 300 persons due to be tested. We have a new hotbed – the clinical municipal hospital No 1, where 7 cases were registered; yet, it is not at all about the section with Covid profile, but the perinatological centre. Unfortunately, we have 94 people dead. At the same time, we have 825 persons treated. Yet, this figure does not include the cases of treatment from the left bank of Dniester,’’ the official specified.       

Thus, there are 2,385 active cases recorded at present, Dumbraveanu said.  

Attending the event, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that today quarantine regime had been established in the villages of Etulia and Cismichioi, southern Vulcanesti district.  

State of emergency is declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
