Moldovan government holds meeting

Chisinau, 13 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a cabinet meeting. Twenty seven subjects were on the agenda. The cabinet approved the appointment of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Moldova to seven EU member states, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Economics and Infrastructure Minister Sergiu Railean presented for approval a draft on the regulation on the establishing of the final consumption of energy from renewable sources in transports. The regulation’s goals are to establish a transparent mechanism of determining the final consumption of energy from renewable sources in transports and to stimulate the production and consumption of renewable energy in transports.  

The minister unveiled a draft on the transmission of assets for the management of the Balti Free Economic Zone (FEZ). The administration of FEZ Balti will create an Innovation, Research and Development Centre, on the platform of which researches will be carried out in the field of plastic products, light metals, mechanic engineering, machines with numerical programming, etc.

Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu presented a draft law on the ratification of the agreement on financing between Moldova and the International Development Association on the implementation of a project on emergency response to the COVID-19 epidemic. The response implies a loan worth 52.9 million euros, the repayment of which starts on 15 October 2025 and ends on 15 April 2050. The resources are meant for buying protection equipment, kits for identifying the infection, ambulances, training specialists, etc.    

Minister Dumbraveanu presented for approval a national action plan for 2020 on the implementation of the 2017-2021 national strategy for employment. The action plan contains support measures for various categories of jobless people and measures of support for the economic agents hit by the epidemiological crisis. As much as 168 million lei is additionally earmarked for increasing the quantum of the unemployment benefit up to 2,775 lei both for the present beneficiaries and for the people who register with status of unemployed on the period of the emergency state, although they do not meeting the criteria for providing the status of jobless.    

The overall cost of the action plan is 1.508 billion lei, of which 1.233 billion will be covered from the state budget, 200 million lei – from the state social insurances budget and 62.46 million lei – from external sources.  

Deputy Prime Minister Serghei Puscuta unveiled for approval a draft on the allocation of financial means for the providing of one-off allowances worth 16,000 lei to the employees of authorities and public institutions, who were infected with COVID-19 while fulfilling job duties. The draft provides for the earmarking of 6,544 thousand lei from the government’s intervention fund for the remuneration of 409 people.
