Situation in Transnistrian conflict settlement discussed at meeting with ambassadors, international organizations accredited in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 June /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic convened a meeting on Monday with representatives of several embassies and international organizations accredited in Moldova in video format. The meeting focused on current situation on the Transnistrian conflict settlement during the emergency situation in the context of COVID-19, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

Lesnic thanked for supporting Moldova during the epidemiological crisis as donations and medical equipment for people on both banks of the Dniester and expressed feelings of deep solidarity with the countries affected by the new coronavirus.

The official informed the audience about the challenges of this period, Chisinau efforts to limit the spread of the new coronavirus and openness to constructive dialogue with the Transnistrian side. In this context, the official highlighted the opportunities created for crisis management, including for businesses and population in Transnistria at the very beginning of the state of emergency, including procedures for importing medicines and food in the region, repatriation of Moldovan citizens.

Other issues were related to the technical mission of the World Health Organization carried out in the Transnistrian region at the request of Chisinau and respect for human rights through the security dimension in the Transnistrian region.

The diplomatic missions were informed about human rights challenges throughout the process.

At the same time, Cristina Lesnic expressed Chisinau's expectations for the population on both banks of the Dniester in the context of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
