Moldovan leadership holds meeting

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today participated in a new meeting with the Moldovan president and parliament speaker, during which the sides discussed priority subjects on the agenda, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

At the meeting, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii said that no motion of censure had been submitted against the government, following the taking of responsibility for those four drafts, among which the budget’s rectification. On 12 July, 72 hours passed, which the MPs had at their disposal to submit the motion. Respectively, the documents are to be signed in parliament and be promulgated by President Igor Dodon.  

„I hope that, during this week, the drafts will be promulgated, so that we can start their implementation, as they are such important for the citizens and needed for the economy,’’ Ion Chicu said at the meeting.  

On 14 July, the first consignment of six locomotives out of the 12 ones, purchased by Moldova for the first time ever since getting independence, will be brought to the country. The locomotives will be owned by the enterprise Railway of Moldova. According to the PM, this will allow resuscitating the enterprise’s work or the national economy cannot be developed without railway infrastructure. The first consignment of assistance, provided by EU and World Health Organization for the Eastern Partnership countries, will be delivered to Moldova on 14 July too.   

The prime minister informed that the projects on roads’ reconstruction were in the full swing.  ’’We are glad that the roads’ infrastructure will allow us ensuring the economic activities. At the same time, these investments mean jobs and salaries for our citizens,’’ Ion Chicu said. Also, the activity of preparation of those 16 industrial platforms starts, for which the government allocated 50 million lei. It is about 16 district centres, where industrial zones will be constructed, endowed with all needed utilities for the development of Moldova’s economy.     

In the end of the news briefing, the PM referred to the pandemic situation in Moldova. Chicu said that, although the number of infection cases had decreased by about 40 per cent against last June, the emergency state in the public health centre would be extended till 31 July, with the evolution of the pandemic regionally and in the world taken into account, where 240,000 cases per day were recorded. The government urged the citizens to prove responsibility in the observance of the sanitary and epidemiological, as well as solidarity rules with the entire world.
