Moldovan president attends meeting of new locomotives for Railway of Moldova

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today attended an official ceremony dedicated to the arrival in Moldova of the first six out of the 12 ТE33А diesel locomotives, produced in Kazakhstan and purchased by the Railway of Moldova within the investment project, reorganization of the Railway of Moldova. The project is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Union. All the 12 locomotives underwent the procedure of testing, validation and certification and reached Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.  

At the ceremony, the head of state stressed that the Moldovan leadership was grateful to the EBRD, EIB representatives in Moldova, head of the EU Delegation in Moldova for the constant support they are providing to the country through the most diverse projects on financing of the strategic sectors in Moldova.  Igor Dodon noted that, for the current leadership, the efficient management of the Railway of Moldova represented a priority direction for revitalizing the country’s economic life.    .

Also, the president congratulated the Railway’s employees on the today’s acquisition. ‘’I am sure that, due to the setting working of these locomotives, as well as the efficient rehabilitation of the railway infrastructure, the enterprise will manage not only to optimize the spending, but also to win again the passengers’ confidence, as well as to revive the goods transport,’’ the head of state stressed.    

Availing himself of this occasion, Igor Dodon reaffirmed Moldova’s increased interest in the further development and deepening of the cooperation relations with Moldova’s external development partners.
