Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - The government on 29 July will approve the agreement on financing on behalf of the European Union worth 100 million euros and will discuss a decision on re-initiating the negotiations with Russia on the providing of a 200-million-euros-worth loan. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made statements to this effect after a weekly meeting with the head of state and parliament speaker today.

The PM noted that, at present, the authorities were finishing the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund for the signing of a three-year programme. Chicu also said that the last elements due to be discussed were dealing with the justice reform, stressing that the cabinet had taken no commitment which would toughen the fiscal burden.

Ion Chicu specified that the resumption of the talks with Russia was needed, as the money had been already provided for in the budget and if it does not come, there will be difficulties in terms of financing.

The prime minister said that the farmers from Moldova had big losses because of the drought and this subject was and must be on the government’s agenda. The drought compromised especially the cereals and the cabinet takes into account the providing of additional allowances to farmers.

The PM said the situation as to the infection with COVID-19 was not good and the number of cases had been increasing in the last week. Thus, the restrictions in force will be maintained and if the situation is worsened, the cabinet might return to some restrictions in force before the end of the emergency state.
