Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - The regulation on the export and import of dangerous chemicals will be published in the 31 July issue of Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial). The document transposes an act to this effect of the European Union, amended one year ago.

Under a cabinet decision, the regulation has two goals: creating a mechanism of enforcing the  Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, joined by Moldova in 2004; establishing the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals, which are banned or subjected to severe restrictions in Moldova.

Also, the document’s goal is to promote joint responsibilities and efforts in the field of international trade of hazardous chemicals, in order to protect from potential harms the human health, environment, as well as correctly use the dangerous chemicals from the ecologic viewpoint.

The regulation will ensure the observance of the provisions as regards the classification, packing and labeling of hazardous chemicals for man and/or the environment, at their export or import, except for the case when the concerned stipulations come in conflict with any specific requirement of  the sides or of the concerned countries.

The monitoring and implementation of this decision is entrusted with the National Agency of Regulation of Nuclear Radiological and Chemical Activities. The decision will enter into force at the expiration of six months after the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal.
