Program for 1 November presidential election approved

Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved the calendar program for implementing the actions of organizing and conducting elections of 1 November 2020 for the position of Moldovan President.

The document sets out the actions to be taken to organize elections, deadlines and those responsible for each action, starting from the competencies of the main subjects involved in the election process.

"The program will be submitted for information and implementation within the limits of competences to political parties, courts, central and local public authorities, as well as electoral bodies, after their establishment," CEC sources said.

In accordance with the provisions of the calendar program, presidential election period will begin on 25 August.

The presidential elections will be held on 1 November, as decided by parliament, referring to the Article 78 of Constitution and Article 109 of Electoral Code. The term of office of the current president expires on 23 December 2020.
