Honorary consulate of Moldova inaugurated in Turkish city of Alanya

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Oleg Tulea has participated, along with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in a ceremony on the official inauguration of Moldova’s honorary consulate in the Alanya city, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.    

Attending the event were also the mayor of the Alanya city, Adem Murat Yücel, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mehmet Şahin, Ambassador of Moldova to Turkey Dmitri Croitor, Moldova’s honorary consuls from Alanya and Antalya, representatives of business and academic circles, members of the Moldovan community from Turkey.

In his inauguration speech, the foreign affairs minister thanked the Turkish authorities for the support of the approaches on the setting up of the honorary consulate in the concerned settlement.    

Oleg Tulea referred to the privileged friendship relations between both nations, based on a wide range of subjects of common interest, reflected through the Strategic Partnership launched in 2018.    

The Moldovan diplomacy head stressed that the extension and deepening of the relations with Turkey represented one of the priorities of Moldova’s government.

Minister Oleg Tulea touched upon the work of honorary consul Halil Okur. He voiced confidence that the consul would efficiently represent and promote Moldova’s interests in Turkey and, by his work, the activity of the office of the consulate would contribute to the booting of the commercial and economic, cultural and academic exchanges, and would provide needed support to Moldovan citizens at risk. The consular area includes the districts Alanya, Manavgat, Gazipașa, Akseki, Gundogmuș and Ibradi.

For his part, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu welcomed the Moldovan authorities’ decision to extend their network of honorary consulates in Turkey, in the spirit of the deep relations between Moldova and Turkey. He emphasized that the creation of the honorary consulate’s office in Alanya would open new prospects for the development of joint projects, especially on the dimension of the economic diplomacy.
