Joint Control Commission members fail to hold meeting today

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - A working meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) members, which was to be held in Bender today, in order to consider topical aspects on the work of the peacekeeping mechanism in the Security Zone, did not take place because of the appearance of a COVID-19 hotbed at the Joint Military Command, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

In the next weeks, JCC will work as normal in the online regime. The permanent communication between all components of the peacekeeping operation will be maintained, including at the level of the Joint Military Command and of military observers, so that the regime of the Security Zone, established in line with the Moldovan-Russian Ceasefire Agreement from 21 July 1992, is not jeopardized.

Starting from 8 October 2020, the Transnistrian side has been blocking the ordinary meetings of the Joint Control Commission and rejecting the inclusion on the agenda of a wide range of problems existing in the Security Zone.

Moldova’s delegation will continue promoting on JCC’s agenda the taking of decisions removing the illegal ‘’border guards’’ control posts, other military structures which are part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces and setting free the citizens kidnapped by the unconstitutional structures in the Security Zone.
