Romania to provide Moldova with 200,000 doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine

Chisinau, 29 December /MOLDPRES/ - Romania will provide Moldova with up to 200,000 doses of vaccine and will sent to Chisinau, on the immediately next period, a team of experts due to help prepare the vaccination strategy. Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis has made statements to this effect at a joint conference with President Maia Sandu.

The Romanian head of state said that Romania in 2021 would come up with more consignments of medicines and equipment for people sick with COVID-19 and would provide 6,000 tons of qualitative diesel oil for farmers.  

Also, the validity of the agreement envisaging the providing of 100 million euros in grant to Moldova will be extended and the civil society and mass media will benefit from a support worth 250,000 euros.  

The Romanian president reiterated that his visit was a confirmation of the special relation between the two countries. ‘’Without reforms, Moldovan will not be able to have a sustainable development. Romania wants Moldova to flourish and its citizens to enjoy democratic conditions. We will keep an eye on the situation in Moldova as priority subject. Romania is and will remain the sincere friend and the principal partner of Moldova’s citizens,’’ Iohannis said.    

The today visit by the president of Romania is the first one paid by a head of state to Moldova since the swearing of Maia Sandu in the office of president.
