Famous Moldovan stage manager says art employees learned to work in other conditions in 2020

Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ - The director of the Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre, actor, stage manager, People’s Artist, Laureate of the National Prize Alexandru Grecu has said that 2020 had been a year when the art employees learned to work in other conditions.    

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Alexandru Grecu said that the pandemic had terribly  hit the creative people, with all performances ceased, except for the period 15 August-28 November.   

At the same time, the artist noted that the pandemic had had also its ‘’pluses’’: made all art creators look for other forms of dialogue with the audience; a much severer regime for the managers of the culture institutions obliged them to seek new financial, economic, as well as organizational priorities.

”The 2020 year taught us to sell our production virtually as well; put to test our devotion to the profession. Made us be more united and change the repertoire policy, which is a strategic point in the communication with the spectator. I would like most of all the reopening of the theatres and that we recover from the critical financial and economic situation, as all public culture institutions have suffered huge losses in this respect,’’ Grecu said.

In 2020, the Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre organized three premieres, the fourth issue of the Festis International Festival of Dramaturgy, in which 10 playwrights from seven countries were present and participated in three festivals: International Theatre Festival from Sibiu (Romania), Festival of New Theatre Forms from Pitesti, Romania, and the Theatre Festival from Deva (Romania). At the same time, a documentary titled Satiricus – 30 Years, was made, two volumes of the Satiricus collection were launched. The institution participated in two international projects and initiated a partnership with the Pitesti and Deva Theatres, where Alexandru Grecu staged several plays.
